Smartphone Photography | IPPA Winners 2015 | Definitively Relevant

Smartphone photography is becoming more and more relevant to us over the past few years due to the variety of companies offering unlimited storage and cutting edge optics with their devices. When combined with the fact that nearly everyone and their grandparents have at least one smartphone on them at any given time, the internet has been flooded with images.

For the past 8 years, iPhone photographers worldwide have celebrated the annual iPhone Photography Awards (IPPA).
This year has brought about some of the most thought provoking images I’ve ever seen come out of a smartphone.

1st Place
Went to Michal Koralewski of Koziegłowy, Poland for his stunning image of a street performer and his accordion in Warsaw
I absolutely love the Black & White in this image. Nice work Michal!

1st Place, Photographer of the Year

2nd Place
Went to David Craik of Surrey in the United Kingdom for his photo of two Starlings that had come to snatch the crumbs off his table in a coastal café.
What makes this image of the birds unique is the shadow of the bird that had just landed had lingered on the wall.

David knew he had to capture it, so he did and so very well at that! Kudos David.

3rd Place
Went to Yvonne Lu of New York, in the United States for her beautiful moment in a journey. This is actually my favourite image out of all of this years winners and I think it’s down to the romance and love story that this image depicts .

Yvonne says that she noticed the couple as she travelled along the Hudson Valley River on her way home to New York City and she became entranced by their vintage look and the way they seemed as if they didn’t need anything else in the world.

If you ask me, I don’t think Salvador Dali is dead after all. Check out that moustache!!!
