Brian Setzer’s Rockabilly Riot / Vicar Street

I got an email early Wednesday morning by the live editor from State, Alan telling me that my request for the ‘Brian Setzer’ gig had come through.

I was over the flippin moon about this one as I’d requested months ago and with my holiday so close I completely forgot about the gig!

For those of you who’ve never heard of Brian Setzer – GET OFF THIS BLOG (just kidding)

Brian Setzer was the king of cool back in the 1980’s and he fronted a rockabilly revival group known as ‘The Stray Cats’. The Stray Cats were a savage combo of rockabilly and Jazz all tied up in a rock n’roll sandwich.

Unfortunately they separated in 1984, having had a couple of hits in and around the time of the punk movement in London, but reunited briefly to record albums and do a few tours in the early 1990s.

Back to the now though,….

After an explosion of psychobilly, hardcore and punk mashed into one in the form an upcoming Dublin band ‘Skeleton Crew’ , Setzer & co took to the stage, for a night of good old fashion Jumpin and Jivin Rockabilly!

It’s gonna be hard to top this one!!

Ciao for now,

Iano x
